Special Issues and Guest Editors
DRArch publishes an annual Special Issue under the guidance of distinguished scholars serving as Special Issue Editors. Each issue is dedicated to a specific and timely theme in architecture, planning, and urban design, contributing to the journal’s thematic diversity, international visibility, and academic impact. Special Issue Editors are carefully selected based on their academic expertise, international recognition, and scholarly contributions to emerging research areas.
Since 2021, DRArch Special Issues have addressed a wide range of interdisciplinary topics. The 2025 Special Issue, “Pedagogies in Urban Design: Broadening the Perspective,” edited by Dr. Irmak Yavuz Özgür and Prof. Dr. Olgu Çalışkan, explores the evolving nature of urban design education from a global perspective. The 2024 Special Issue, “Age of Disruption,” edited by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kerem Yavuz Arslanlı, focuses on resilience in the context of rapid technological and societal transformations. The 2023 Special Issue, “Resilience in Crisis,” edited by Prof. Dr. Seda Kundak, examines adaptive strategies in response to global crises such as natural disasters and pandemics.
The 2022 Special Issue, “Cinema & Architecture,” edited by Prof. Dr. Havva Alkan Bala, Dr. Gül Kaçmaz Erk, and Işıl Baysan Serim, investigates the relationship between cinematic representation and spatial design. The 2021 Special Issue, “Space Syntax,” edited by Prof. Dr. Ayşe Sema Kubat, focuses on spatial analysis and configurational methodologies in architecture and urban studies.
Through these curated special issues, DRArch strengthens its role as a platform for interdisciplinary dialogue, innovative research, and global academic collaboration in the field of the built environment.
